The Midwest Climate Summit is a three-day gathering of climate leaders, researchers, and professionals focused on expanding knowledge, accelerating climate action, and catalyzing new partnerships for an equitable Midwestern response to the climate crisis. It is the premiere event in the region for those responding to the climate crisis in the Midwest. For a review of last year’s event, click here.

DEADLINES: 

  • ADVANCE REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED
  • Advance Reg Ends 3/29/24 
    • Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by 3/1/24 receive 50% refund; Cancellations received after 3/1/24 are non-refundable
  • MCC Members: MCC members receive 2 free registrations. The primary contact for each member organization determines those recipients. If you do not know who your primary contact is, please email midwestclimatecollaborative@wustl.edu.
  • Students: There are reduced prices for students who attend virtually and in-person.
  • Virtual attendance: The virtual option includes access to the plenary sessions and selected workshops. A more detailed schedule will be available in early 2024.

What to expect

The Summit is a two-and-a-half day event to connect, learn, and collaborate with others to equitably reduce emissions, build resiliency, and prepare our communities for climate change. Below is a list of workshop topics and some of the presenters. Stay tuned for the full schedule!

The Keynote and Opening will begin at 5 pm on the 3rd and the Summit will conclude at 1:15 pm on Friday.

Keynote Speaker

We are excited to announce that Leah Thomas, founder of Intersectional Environmentalist, will be our opening keynote speaker. Leah Thomas is a celebrated environmentalist, founder of the non-profit, Intersectional Environmentalist, and author of The Intersectional Environmentalist: How to Dismantle Systems of Oppression to Protect People + Planet. She has been recognized for her work in outlets like Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, CNN, ABC News, and NBC, among others, and has been honored on lists including EBONY Power 100, TIME100 Next, and INSIDER’s Climate Action 30. For planning purposes: The keynote and opening will begin at approximately 5 pm ET on Wednesday, April 3 and the Summit will conclude around 1 pm ET on Friday. A full schedule will be shared soon.

Closing ceremony with REACT

React staff teamed up with MCC member, Earth Charter Indiana, to facilitate a two-year-long research and creative development process for a cast of 17 middle and high school React students.

Dreamland, a new original play produced by React, is a call for hope in a world that seems doomed for climate catastrophe.

The Midwest Climate Summit is hosted by the Midwest Climate Collaborative, a multi-sector network spanning 12 states working for a carbon neutral, climate resilient, interconnected Midwest region. This event prioritizes multi-disciplinary approaches that connect leaders across sectors and communities for greater collective action on climate.
