11/15/24 – And the work continues! Free workshops & upcoming grant opportunities

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • MCC and SIUE is providing free Grant Training Workshops (virtual and in-person) Check out more details here (for what you’ll learn and when they are taking place!) Registration will be open VERY soon! We are letting MCC members and our Federal Funding Fridays know about it first. Each in-person workshop and online cohort is limited to 15 people. Some of the amazing SIUE instructors are joining us on FFF November 22 to talk about it and answer any questions you may have. 
  • EPA’s Sustainable Communities Accelerator Network, announced they are extending the application deadline until November 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM ET. SCAN supports teams of environmental and land use planning leaders in transitioning their local sustainability plans from concept to reality, providing guidance and resources to overcome implementation challenges. Visit the SCAN webpage for full details about the program, including structure and schedule, curriculum, eligibility and how to apply.
  • Solar for All Updates:
    • MI Solar for All has an RFP out for a contractor to design their program.
    • WI working with their Green Bank
    • IN focusing on Tier 1 Cities
    • IL: On December 2, the Illinois Climate Bank will kick off its planning process to refine the design of the Solar for All Expansion Programs.  Please register here. The Kickoff Webinar will provide an overview of the Solar for All Expansion programs, an outline of the working group framework, and a description of opportunities for stakeholders to participate and provide input to program design during the planning process.

AWARDS

  • NIH – grant to expand capacity around research, sustainability BRE-SPAD
  • Grid Catalyst is offering a free design workshop to students interested in energy, entrepreneurship, marketing, business, and other related fields. We are the Midwest convener for the EnergyTech University Prize (led by the Department of Energy). Students will have the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and energy technologies, then apply them to developing a competitive abstract for this contest. We would appreciate you sharing this opportunity with the students from your school. There is also information at the end of the email for faculty who would like to compete for funding in the faculty track of this DOE program.

Open & Upcoming Grants/Funding Opportunities

  • The Ohio Department of Development announced a new round of grant funding is available to help support energy efficiency projects in communities across the state. The application period opens at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18 and runs through 4 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2025. Program guidelines and application instructions can be found on the award announcement.

  • Thriving Communities Grantmakers Award
    • Region 5 – Nov. 22 to be released
