GRANTS & FUNDING SOURCES
AWARDED
- Michigan received $211 million for Michigan’s Home Energy Rebates (MiHER) through the IRA earlier this year and is now set to launch statewide in early 2025. The two component programs, Home Efficiency Rebates (HER) and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR), will serve up to 15,000 households across the state. These two rebate options cover both single and multifamily homes and target energy efficiency and electrification upgrades. Michigan renters and homeowners interested in the programs can learn more on EGLE’s MiHER webpage.

- Energy Auditor Training (EAT) Grant Program, funded by BIL, awarded grants to
- The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity ($2M) to establish an energy auditor training program
- Minnesota Department of Commerce ($1.8M) to establish the White Earth Tribal and Community College Energy Auditor Training Program to support workforce development in northwest Minnesota.
- DOE awarded $474 million in FY 2024 Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants in an effort to strengthen America’s power grid against wildfires, extreme weather events, and other natural disasters that are exacerbated by the climate crisis. Of that amount, Midwest states and tribal nations received approximately $70M.
- DOE expects to issue the FY 2025 Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants ALRD in FY 2025 Q2.
- EPA awarded nearly $3 billion to 55 applicants through the Clean Ports Program. Awards made for this program will improve air quality in near-port communities where people live, work, and play. Over half of the selected projects have a primary place of performance in disadvantaged communities experiencing poor air quality.
- Illinois received $96M for two projects
- Michigan $28M for three projects
- Ohio, $94M for one project

- MCC is sharing a Request for Collaboration (RFC) for an NSF (R212) grant seeking to implement regional climate solutions through collaborative, multi-institutional and cross-sectoral teams.
