POSITION | Professor of Practice at the McKinney School of Law and Director of the Environmental Resilience Institute
Janet McCabe is a Professor of Practice at the IU McKinney School of Law and Director of IU’s Environmental Resilience Institute. She works with researchers, staff and students at IU and change agents outside the university to enhance resilience to environmental change in Indiana and the Midwest by accurately predicting impacts and effectively partnering with communities to implement feasible, equitable, and research-informed solutions. She works with local governments across the Midwest to support their efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and become more resilient in the face of climate change. An environmental lawyer and policy expert, Janet focuses in particular on air pollution, climate change and children’s environmental health.
Janet has bachelor and law degrees from Harvard University. She has spent much of her career in regulatory and policy roles at environmental agencies in Massachusetts and Indiana, and held leadership roles at the USEPA’s Office of Air and Radiation from 2009-2016.
Janet serves on the Steering Committee and co-chairs the Outreach & Engagement sub-committee.
