Cassie Power’s Biography

Cassie Power, PhD, is the Associate Director for Faculty and Academic Engagement at the Gephardt Institute. Cassie leads the vision, strategic expansion, and impact of curricular community engagement at Washington University. In this capacity, she works with faculty and leadership across all seven academic schools at the university – both undergraduate and graduate levels – to assure robust and high quality opportunities for faculty to build civic and community engagement into courses.

Previously, Cassie was a faculty member, having held positions both at a private liberal arts college and a public research university. During her time as a faculty member, she taught over 30 community-engaged courses. She received her PhD in Social Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan in 2006 and has a long-standing personal and academic interest in developing opportunities for people to work together toward social justice.
