Student Assistants – help at the summit and attend for free!

The Summit consists of 3 days of programming. The below options give undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to attend the summit free of charge. Through the form at the bottom of the page, you will select which times work best for you. If you are willing and able to work for the entire summit, please select that option. The summit runs from February 21-23, with a keynote session on the 21st and smaller sessions on the 22nd and 23rd. See the main summit page for a more thorough breakdown of the programming and who is coming to speak. We look forward to having you onboard!

Possible Roles

Moderator

As a student, you have the option to moderate sessions and attend the rest of the summit that day free of charge. As a moderator, you engage with the speaker and the audience and help facilitate the conversation when needed. You will be required to attend a one-hour training prior to the event. You are the primary contact within that session if there are technical difficulties for people using presentations, and you will help speakers on zoom get set up and make sure it is functioning. Moderators must be in person. For more information on moderating and what it will look like on the day of, view this document.

Note-taker

The second option to attend the summit is to be a note-taker. Just like the moderator option, if you take notes in a session on the 22nd, you will be able to attend the other sessions that day free of charge. As a note taker, you will be attentive throughout the entire session and will take notes on key points and takeaways. They should be thorough so that people who could not attend the session can read your notes and be able to understand what it was about. You will record the speaker’s contact information (if they say it is okay) so that people are able to follow up if they want to. As a part of the note-takers responsibility, you may be asked to give a short debrief (panel-style conversation) in the afternoon of the 23rd. Alternatively, you will write a condensed description of the session that will be posted and sent out after the Summit is complete. Note-takers may attend virtually on zoom or may attend in person.

Help out with the entire summit

If you are available starting in the afternoon of the 21st until the afternoon of the 23rd and wish to help with the entire summit, please contact Heather Navarro. There are a limited number of paid student positions for those available to help throughout the entire event. You may be moderating, taking notes, or helping with organization and other tasks that need to be done. You will also be able to attend sessions for free and will be compensated with an hourly wage.
