POSITION | Assistant Director of Operations & Training

John Warford is the Assistant Director of Operations & Training for the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice. He has served as a faculty mentor working with students and community-based organizations (CBOs) through both the HBCU-CBO Gulf Equity Consortium and the HBCU Climate Change Consortium. He has also served as a delegation member participating in four of the last five United Nations Framework Conventions on Climate Change.

John has a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from the University of Florida and an undergraduate degree in English and Black Studies from Washington University in Saint Louis. Prior to joining the Deep South Center full-time he served as a Teaching Professor at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University for twenty years. His interests include environmental justice, community economic development, character education, and consortium partnership development.

John serves on the Steering Committee and Teaching & Education subcommittee.
